When I was in school I signed up for a wintersession class called “lost wax casting.” i had never heard of this technique before and I thought we would be studying a “lost art”, a theoretical replication of a Bronze Age process. NOPE;;! lost wax casting has been in practice since at least 3500 BCE in Mesopotamia. The Fertile Crescent, churning with life and the fires of a thousand forges. I’m using the same practice as humans 5500 years ago. Carving wax and replacing it with hot molten metal. Heavy + cast in solid bronze, polished to mirror shine.
